I am pleased to say the Crafts & Conversation and Pioneer Quilters groups completed 34 Hug Blankets this season. Thanks to donations, sales and a whole bunch of hard work we had a very productive year. Our first-ever sale netted us $135.00, all of which as well as all cash donations, went right back into supplies for the continuation of the Hug Blanket project, -
We donated 12 blankets to the Wis. Dells Police Dept. and 14 blankets to the Sauk County Sheriffs Dept. Sheriff Stammen was so pleased to accept these blankets. By popular demand, both the craft group and the quilting group will continue to work on the project next year.
However, this is not all that the crafters and quilters did this year! On August 8th, Joan O'Connor, #373, taught a class on "Batik" to all interested crafters. Batik is a method of producing colored designs on textiles by applying wax to the parts to be left uncolored. Joan provided squares of white fabric for all in attendance. The crafters proved to be quite creative in their designs and when finished, Sandy Wojtecki, #338, volunteered to sew the squares together. We'll use them to make a quilt for our Hug Blanket project. Our thanks to Joan for a great presentation.
Jeannie Allmann, #436, and Lynn Franz, #5, shared their talents of creating greeting cards, and I shared some tips and techniques in quilting. Busy fingers, indeed!
If you have any questions about the groups or the projects we worked on, please feel free to call me. If you have any new ideas for either group, please come and share with us. You'll see us every Tuesday and Friday morning at the Clubhouse.
Have a happy and healthy winter and God Bless you all,
- Judi Evinic, #233

Sign up for winterizing. Sign-up sheets are at the Clubhouse for those who provide this service.
Please remember to shut off your furnace at the thermostat, or better still, turn off the breaker on the panel in your RV. Just shutting off the gas is not enough. If the thermostat is set at 55° or above, at some time it will call for heat, allowing the blower to start. Without gas, it will continue to run and eventually burn out the motor.
Have your LP Gas Company come in and fill your tanks before the snow flies because only the main entrance road to the Clubhouse is plowed.
Store all summer accessories such as lawn chairs, umbrellas, grills, etc. in a secure place.
Turn off your refrigerator and, after unscrewing the light bulb, leave the door ajar. Unless you maintain 55° or more in your RV, leaving the refrigerator running during the winter will shorten its lifespan, and food will spoil since the unit won't run regularly.
Disconnect all outdoor lights on a timer.
Conserve electricity. The lights aren't needed when you're not here. The Park will be patrolled by the Manager.
Unplug your TV power supply and cable connector to protect against lightning strikes.
Consider leaving a key at the Office if you
don't already have one there. Park personnel may then check for damage and perhaps save you a special trip if we would have a severe snowstorm or wind damage.
Sign up for winter cable TV before October 15th if you want it.
Make sure your unit is unplugged at the pedestal so that if the wires get chewed by an animal of some sort, your unit will not start a fire.
